5 ways to turn off public registration for your New Zenler course

Turning off public registration is one of the things that you want to look into if you are a course creator. You don't want people to join your course at the wrong time. Especially if you are working on improvements on the content or planning to increase the prices, turning off registrations to your courses might be a good idea.

Let us look into ways in which you can limit registration to your New Zenler course

1. Mark the price as hidden.

This is one of the best methods to turn off public registration for your course. The main advantage is that you are not getting rid of anything that you might use in the future, it is just turning off a toggle and when you want it open again, you can simply uncheck it. Let us see the steps you have to follow-

Step 1: Open your New Zenler dashboard and select the course you want to turn off registrations under "Courses" from the top menu.

Step 2: Go to the course details tab for the course and check the option "Make the price hidden" and click on "Update".

What this does is even if the course is published, people won't be able to access the checkout page and the good part is that everything is still there and you can make it live again by simply unchecking the option.

2. Delete the pricing plan

Well, this works too.... but only recommended if you are planning to increase/decrease the prices. Just like the method suggests, all you have to do is go under the pricing tab of your course and delete all the pricing plans. So if there are no pricing plans, they won't be able to access the checkout page.

The main disadvantage of this method is that if you want to make your course open again, you have to recreate all your pricing plans again, and is not recommended unless you wanted to change the pricing plans in the first place.

3. Making the course a secret

If you don't want people to reach your course, you can make your course a secret so that it would not appear on your site. The advantage is that you can still enroll people by exclusively share the link to the course with them. So this means that your course is not open to the public but open to specific people to whom you can share the link and want them to join.

The steps are similar to the first method- 

Step 1: Open your New Zenler dashboard and select the course you want to turn off registrations under "Courses" from the top menu.

Step 2: Go to the course details tab for the course and check the option "Make course a secret" and click on "Update"

Once you are ready to launch it to the public you can make it live again by simply unchecking the option and clicking "Update".

4. Adding a future start date to your course

If you don't want to delete the pricing plan, or you don't want anyone to have access to the course, you can add a validity option to the course in such a way that enrollments start on a future date. Maybe someday in 2199, they would never live to enroll for that... LOL. I seriously doubt if the earth will still be in one piece by then... Coming back to the point, adding a future validity is definitely a way to turn off public enrollments for your course in New Zenler, and here is how you can do it.

Step 1: Go to the pricing plans tab on your course page and then select the edit option for the plan.

Step2: Once you are in the plan editor, at the bottom you will find the toggle to enable availability for the course and once you enable it you will be able to fill in the start and end date for the enrollment. You can put in a future date so that the course will only be available from that date.

If you are planning to pause the enrollment to some days and you know exactly when to resume, this method might be useful as you can set the dates and it will automatically open the course for enrollment on the set date and time.

5. Changing the course price to a higher value

This may sound funny but people do it all the time. Let us say you have a course that is worth about 100-150$ and you don't want people to buy it... You can simply increase the price to 10000$ or 15000$. 99% of people wouldn't even dare to put in their credit card information and if some still get the course, then you wouldn't have to sell it for another year...LOL.

As funny as that sounds, it can be a good method to experiment with the real worth of your courses... maybe the 100-150$ price tag is too cheap for its contents and this is one way to find out. 

You can edit an existing pricing plan (mentioned in the above method) and simply increase the price to a much higher value.
